We had a super day at Imaginosity Children's Museum today. We learned about static electricity and we built an electrical circuit with a battery, playdough and a light. We had a lot of fun playing in the exciting play areas. We were all very tired on the bus back to school.
As you may be aware we are aiming for our third green flag this year at Powerstown E.T. This flag comes under the theme of Water. The green team and the whole school are doing great work to raise awareness of water conservation but we would love parents to get involved too. We would appreciate it if you could fill in the quick survey below about your water use at home. It should only take a few minutes and will help towards getting our next green flag.

This week we will be celebrating World Book Day (Thursday 2nd March) in Powerstown E.T.N.S. with a series of in-school events all week. The main aim is to encourage children to explore the pleasure of books and reading by providing them opportunities to read books within school and also at home. We are holding the following events in school during the week that we would love your support in: Ash Class Shared Reading: Thursday 2nd March 8:30am You are invited to come and join us for ‘Shared Reading’ events in each class during the week. ‘Shared Reading’ is a fun time where parents read story books to small groups of children. We will be having a parade in the morning around the school, dressed as our favourite characters. Ideas for homemade costumes can be found here: http://www.worldbookday.com/dressing-up/ Poster Competition: Home Project: Children are encouraged to enter this competition by drawing or painting a scene, setting or a character from their favourite book. This should be completed at home with parents. There will be a prize for one child from each class and a display board of the posters. Today a story teller visited our school. Fiona told us stories about a market and a fly and a cockroach. We really enjoyed listening to her.
This week we planted native trees in our school garden as part of the One Million Trees initiative. We wrote a procedural writing text about How to Plant a Tree. Thank you to Luke for helping us.
This month we are learning about the doctor in Aistear. We really enjoyed treating our teachers as patients, giving them medicine and performing surgeries. We made x-ray art of our hands.
